India: Investment Banking

Our group has had a long association with India having operated as a confirming house financing trade with India from a headquarters in Madras, now Chennai, for most of the 19th century.

 

Our India-focussed investment banking service is managed by Nicholas Banszky who has over thirty years investment banking experience, the last twenty of which has been spent in the emerging markets and in particular India.

During October we were joined by Sam Banerjee who, together with Nicholas Banszky, will help us develop our Indian Business (see News section).

Using our knowledge of the UK market we are able to identify acquisition opportunities for Indian companies wishing to grow their businesses internationally and to advise them in relation to all aspects of the intended transaction including the negotiation of terms, structuring and fundraising.

For those Indian companies wishing to access the international capital markets we are able to transact fundraisings on their behalf either through initial public offerings on the UK stockmarkets, in particular AIM, or by accessing private equity funds.

Arbuthnot Securities has recently entered into arrangements with Anand Rathi Financial Services Limited, a leading Indian financial services group headquartered in Mumbai, which will see the two firms working together in developing a cross-border capability in institutional stockbroking and investment banking. Through stockmarket quotations and private equity fundraisings we are able to assist Indian companies in raising funds in the London market.
